And you lost all your dreams...

My first crack at a digital painting. I can see there being future cracks.

A flier I designed for an event that already passed, so it's promotional power is pretty dry. There were sweet prints of it available, too! I mean, I think so. I didn't see them. But I heard they were sweet!

It's o'death, so of course you should download it. Stuff got pretty different. So get ready for that.
(May I also add that the track "Don't Come Back" is like the most beautiful thing.)

Oh, Proboscideans!

A promotional brochure I made in Adobe Illustrator. It chronicles the African elephant's bizarre history through six stages of its ancestry. From left to right:

African elephant (Loxodonta africana)
Songhua River Mammoth (Mammathus sungari)
Gomphotherium (Gomphotherium angustidens)
Platybelodon (Platybelodon danovi)
Deinotherium (Deinotherium giganteum)
Moeritherium (Moeritherium lyonsi)

Okay, so Moeritherium isn't a true elephant ancestor. I know but y'all can just shove it. The little thing is just too adorable.

Way way more to come!

Been all about this this week. My favorite element about the Penguin Cafe Orchestra is their song titles. It really provides a nice context to every song and influences you to interpret them a certain way. "In the Back of a Taxi" first comes to mind.

You're innocent when you...

An alternate cover for Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman done in Adobe Illustrator. It's an awfully good fiction that covers the whimsical, surreal dreams that plagued the exhausted young Einstein during the construction of his Theory of Relativity. Thought food, for sure.

I'm thinkin' of making a transition over to Wordpress. Things just seem so nice over there... I can have tabs. TABS.

That Sofia Albam sure got a set of pipes. Wood Spider may be doing a split with her if both parties can get their stuff together, so yeah, that'd be something to jump up and down about. The download link leads directly to her Bandcamp, on the grounds that she should know how many people are enjoying her sounds! So yeah, download away!

This month, she's touring through New England, so if you're around, you should check her out!

Edit: Turns out the transmission died in the bus Squinch Owl is touring in right now. Although, I should always suggest this, it'd be awfully generous if y'all could donate some amount of dollars or cents for the album download. These kids sure do need it.

New fangled technology.

Well, I have nothing to do in the last day of my Adobe Illustrator class, so why not upload the work I did for it this semester that I didn't completely hate? Yeah, I think it's an alright idea, too.

Originally going to be an ink piece, but I GUESS NOT! I had a final assignment to think of.

The assignment for this was to illustrate a line of text from a book by Murakami.

I have oodles of work that is a little more "me" to throw on here. But the day I do that will be when I work up the effort to get some decent-quality pictures of it. Oh, and when this miserable week of finals is over. Oh, God, when will it be over?

Well, I happen to have this on my thumb drive, and I was thinking of uploading it anyway. It's like blues...but loud! And uhh...ELECTRIC GUITARS!

I've been abusing the Caps Lock today. I'm so sorry.

Those punk kids.

"I'm calling you because I had a beautiful day today, and I thought you'd appreciate it..."

Why work on that massive project due tomorrow when I could update my blog?!

I'm a stah, baby. A stah.

Look! I do commissions now. I designed a laptop skin for someone! Yeehaw.

I'm lazy and I just went to Liz's blog and stole the album that is missing one track. If I ever work up the effort to track down the complete album, I'll throw it on here. Regardless, this album is quality stuff. Why is it that everything awesome I've been listening to lately comes from New Orleans? Oh, right. Because New Orleans is apparently an awesome sacred haven of hobo punks.

Mhm.

"We don't know where this animal is going."

Here's some things.

I was at SUNY Purchase for a chunk of this weekend. They have some really handsome trees there.

I made this flier for a show going down in Boston. Both current acts are quality stuff so if it's within your ability, you should go! C'mon, it's free music.

Heavy feet

Well, I really hate Adobe Illustrator...but my class that revolves around the program is a pretty good time. And I'm glad that I've produced at least one piece in it that I don't absolutely hate. I'm pretty sure that number won't increase that much, though.

I'm workin' on a bunch of stuff. Also, I was considering putting an album up, but there's still some almonds in my teeth.

Cleaning up ship.

I grew tired of my old header. So I...made a new one! Despite it looking awkward as heck to have it on my page twice, I'll post an image here for the sake of detail.

The fact that it overlaps the border fills me with rage. The fact that I can't fix it fills me with even more rage.

At work, we've been crankin' out Camera Obscura's new album, My Maudlin Career for the past week...And for whatever reason, it's all I've been listening to...Even at home. Maybe someone out there will share my love for it.

Battling sloth.

Unorthodox show. After reading through the flier, you'll know just as much as I do about the event. Whatever. Should be fine. There's enough details to get there, if it's of interest to y'all.

I take too long doing things in Photoshop.

Thirty pantless hours.

The Trio.

The Trio in color.

I like it when I do an entire piece all in my bed. My room is pleasant and I should spend more time in it.

Anywho, a short note. I did this as a gift for my friend, whom it is safe to assume is in the drawing. Though, I did have a lot of fun doing this, seeing as I don't really do anything excessively cartoony nowadays. I guess I can't run away from what I'm condemned to being good at forever...

I listened to this album the entire time:

o'death - Broken Hymns, Limbs & Skin
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DLTARZPC

Listen to it. It's really good. And the band is full of very nice guys, since that makes a difference, I guess.

----

Oh, I haven't updated in a week. Well, just to fill you all in, Wood Spider's aiming to release a split 7" with New Year's Revolution and an August tour throughout the Northeast is in the works. I'll be sure to post dates and locations and all that jazz when more things are concrete.

Ciao.

Us kids and our crazy folk-punk.

Flier numero uno. Paul DeRuvo helped with showing me little Photoshop tricks and whatnot, so here is credit where it's due. If it is not too ridiculous of an idea due to your location, you should go to this! Fun times are expected to be had.

A dear friend of mine, Max, has intentions of screenprinting this...and yeah, that should be cool, too.

More to come. More to come.

A forray into the realms of Photoshop

So I've done a few cute little Photoshop things...Mostly just me doing line drawing and coloring them in. But working graphically is really the only interest I have in the program. So here's some crap that may cause some smiles:

First thing I did. Bill Watterson would either love or hate me.

This was a doodle that evolved into something stupid. Since this, I've produced a much cooler doodle. I should scan that some time soon.

IT'S A GIRAFFE. This was my first time ever trying to make anything with textures. I guess...it turned out alright. This is a haphazard taste of a pretty large illustration project I have going with a friend of mine. I'll elaborate later.

I have a few more things. But I'll save it for the future. I feel like I've had a pretty fruitful first hour.
